Frequently asked questions

The things people ask before buying something made once. If your question is not here, it is worth asking — we would rather answer first than sort it out afterwards.

The work

What does “one of one” actually mean?

Each piece is made a single time and never repeated. There are no editions, no reissues, and no second casting. When a work is sold it is gone, and the listing comes down.

Will my piece look exactly like the photographs?

Yes — every listing is photographed from the actual piece being sold, not a sample. What varies is light: relief work reads entirely differently depending on which side the light comes from, and screens flatten depth. If colour or depth matters to you, ask and we will send more images.

Are small marks and irregularities faults?

No. Tool marks, slight asymmetry, and visible joins between raised forms are kept rather than corrected — they are the record of the piece being made by hand. Genuine defects, such as a split panel or a lifting edge, are something else entirely, and we would not send one.

How should I care for a piece?

Dust with a dry, soft brush, working with the relief rather than across it. No water, no detergents, no solvents — the grounds are porous and will mark. Keep pieces out of prolonged direct sun and off damp walls, and carry them by the frame, never by a raised form. Care notes specific to each work are on its product page.

Ordering and payment

Can I see a piece before I buy it?

Yes. The Rajkot studio is open by appointment — write or call and we will set aside an hour. If you cannot travel, we will send additional photographs or a short video of the piece in daylight.

Can you hold a piece for me?

We can hold a work for 48 hours while you decide. Beyond that it goes back on sale, because holding one piece indefinitely means turning away everyone else who wanted it.

Do you take commissions?

Yes, and they are open. Expect eight to twelve weeks from an agreed proposal, with a fifty per cent deposit to begin. Write to us with the room, the wall, and what drew you to the work, and we will come back with a drawing, a price, and a date.

Shipping and delivery

What does shipping cost?

Within India, shipping is free on orders above Rs. 10,000. Below that it is a flat Rs. 350. Works over 6 kg carry a Rs. 750 handling charge, shown at checkout. International orders are quoted individually before the order is confirmed.

How long until it arrives?

Pieces are dispatched within 5 to 7 working days, because each one is re-inspected and re-photographed before it leaves. After dispatch: 2 to 3 days within Gujarat, 3 to 5 days to the metros, and 5 to 8 days elsewhere in India.

Is my piece insured in transit?

Every shipment is insured for its full value while in transit, at our cost. Risk passes to you once the piece has been delivered and accepted.

Do you ship internationally?

On request. Write to us before ordering and we will quote carriage, transit time, and the paperwork for your country. Import duties and taxes are the buyer’s responsibility.

Returns

Can I return a piece?

You have 7 days from delivery to tell us you want to return a work. It must come back unused and in its original packaging, which is why we ask you to keep the box until you are certain. Return postage for a change of mind is the buyer’s.

What if it arrives damaged?

Photograph the outer box and the piece before unpacking any further, and tell us within 48 hours of delivery. Transit damage is ours to resolve — you pay nothing, and we handle the carrier claim.

How long does a refund take?

7 to 10 working days from the returned piece reaching the studio and passing inspection, back to the original payment method.

Are commissions returnable?

A commission made to your brief is not returnable for a change of mind — it was made for you and cannot be offered to anyone else. It is of course covered if it arrives damaged or is not what was agreed in the proposal.
